🔥 Micro Dermal Anchor Aftercare

The Pin Cushion

Proper aftercare is essential for your micro dermal anchor to heal correctly.

The first two weeks are critical for healing. Most micro dermal piercings take approximately 2–3 months to fully heal.

Cleaning

  • Clean your micro dermal once daily using antibacterial soap (such as Dial or Provon) and water.
  • Gently lather soap on your fingertips and carefully clean the area.
  • Do not use washcloths, loofahs, or sponges, as they can catch on the jewelry and cause irritation or removal.
  • Rinse thoroughly with warm water.

Sea Salt Rinse / Saline Spray

  • Mix ¼ teaspoon of sea salt with 8 oz of warm water in a clean cup.
  • Slowly pour the solution over the dermal until the cup is empty.
  • You may also use a sterile saline spray—apply directly to the piercing and allow it to air dry.
  • Allow the area to air dry—do not use a towel.

Protection & Healing

  • Once dry, apply a circular bandage over the dermal.
  • Wear the bandage for the first two weeks to help the anchor set properly.
  • Be mindful of clothing, seatbelts, bedding, and jewelry, as they can snag or pull the dermal out.

Jewelry Changes

  • Micro dermal tops (gems) can typically be changed after 4–6 weeks, once initial healing has progressed.
